Before borrowing, ask yourself:
Do I actually need this loan? Distinguish between urgent needs and wants. A loan for emergency medical care makes sense. A loan for a new gadget probably doesn’t.
Can I afford the repayments? Calculate your monthly income minus fixed expenses. The repayment amount should fit comfortably within what’s left. Don’t stretch yourself to the point where one unexpected expense causes you to miss a payment.
Have I compared options? Check interest rates and fees from multiple licensed lenders. Verify their license on the Ministry of Law website. Read the full terms before signing.
Do I understand the total cost? Add up the interest and fees over your full repayment period. A loan might seem affordable monthly but cost much more than the principal by the time you’ve paid it off.
